About

In 1996, Liz Calef, a physics teacher at Bridgewater Raynham Regional High School, discovered the potential of the F.I.R.S.T. program. Excited about the opportunity, she pursued a partnership with Johnson and Johnson who remains our main sponsor today. Since  being founded in 1996, TJ² has become a huge success, with hundreds of teens and coaches participating on the team over the years.  The TJ² team has been held together with teamwork, brainstorming, fun, hardwork, and of course, tye dye.

Each year, the team creates  a 120 lb robot designed to play a game. Changing every season, the game challenges students to think of new ways to approach problems and work together. The game usually promotes what FIRST refers to as “gracious professionalism and coopertition’. One of  TJ²’s goals is to display these qualities in our relationships with eachother and other teams.

Tj² is a multidimensional program that attracts students with a variety of interests. One of grupos is the build group. These young engineers design, prototype, and build the robot used in compitition, with the help of teachers and mentors. The final product is a track record of long hours and a shiny new robot.
